REDOX was formed in 1995, at the end of a ten year era with "Tin Tin Tin, which was renamed from "Tin Tin Tin & The Reds" in 1985.

The name was chosen because two of the band, drummer Garry and bassist Sprog lived in Reading and singer, Sue Smith and guitarist, Phil Freizinger lived in Oxford - hence (slightly abbreviated - REDOX)

Of course, the idea of REDOX also being a scientific name for a catalyst hadn't gone unnoticed!

Apparently there is another band with the same name (in Venezuela)....Good to get a gig with them then

Phil (guitarist/singer/flautist) and Sue (singer), have moved together between bands and duos and have also busked around various parts of the globe over the past.... 36 years, though mostly in the last 20

Phil Fryer (otherwise known as 'Freizinger' - the much acclaimed flautist) now incorporates some of that flute into REDOX

Phil is the main song/music composer, he then introduces the compositions to the band, where they then turn into joint arrangements with the rest of the band adding their bits, (such as words (Sue) and bass and drum pieces as various players see fit

We like to keep it loose, and see what happens!

As often happens, people move on, have babies etc., and Garry had the baby (well his partner did) and Sprog moved....to Somerset! (They both still love us though), so a change of personnel was necessary

Tim Turan became our much sought after drummer after Sprog left - (with Neal Graneau (ex Tin Tin Tin) stepping in occasionally, along with various willing drummers such as 'Pecker'-Greg, James Irvine and Nick Clack (ex Tin Tin Tin & The Reds)

Dave Tomlinson became our bassist, and we made a quick recording in 2001, called '45'

Dave got married, and he and his wife Jenny formed Babylon Cowboys

They performed at the rock club that Sue and Phil have promoted over the last 12 or so years,
Klub Kakofanney

Then Dave left and various bassists stepped in, i.e. Ian Nixon, Jon Seagroat, and Gray (who was also in a duo at the time called Lagrima
(see links)

Gray (Graham Barlow) is now our main bassist

In November 2004, it was decided that Nick became No.1 drummer, as Tim's other musical commitments took over from gigs we were actively seeking by this time.

We were doing at least three gigs a week, by the summer of 2004

REDOX has until now been known as a 'swamp rock band', but as the band brought in new material, we thought this description was maybe not as apt as it was, so 'psycho eclectic rock' is the new description we came up with

We went into a recording studio just after Christmas 2004, with many people requesting to hear recordings of the new numbers that were now flying in since Phil took up yoga and regular gigging (which set his 'creative juices' flowing)

Those recordings have now been assembled for release in June 2005 under the title 'BULLABURRA'

We have so many new numbers though, that as soon as 'BULLABURRA' is released, we intend to go into the studio again, plus we also have some LIVE recordings that may be released as well

So this year is a busy year again - and we are looking to be even busier next year

2007 has seen an upsurge of interest in the band, with the imminent release of a new album 'ON THE MOVE' on 145 RECORDS set to continue that trend

As a consequence of signing up to a record label, it was necessary for the band to change its name, so in future we will be known as THE MIGHTY REDOX

2008 was a very busy year, with the band spending more time on tour and performing at several festivals including Guilfest

2009 continued in the same vain as 2008, taking in numerous festivals around the country

2010 starts off with a visit to the studio to begin recording new material, interspersed with what already looks like a busy year of gigging

ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY REDOX
